NAMESAKE

Robert B. DiMartino is a Professor of Clinical Optometry at the University of California, Berkeley School of Optometry as well as serving as the Chief of External Rotations. He is also currently the Chair of the Institutional Review Board Committee for the Protection of Human Subjects for the Berkeley campus.

In addition to maintaining a presence in a private group practice of Optometry, Dr. DiMartino is a credentialed attending doctor at the School of Optometry with clinical and research interests in glaucoma, the ocular manifestations of diabetes, and the assessment of cataracts. Dr. DiMartino is the most recent recipient of the California Optometric Association’s Outstanding Teaching Award.
Receiving his medical degree in 1984, Robert B. DiMartino has been practicing medicine for over 32 years. Coupled with his compassion for friendship, and knowledge of the latest vision science research many of his patients have called him the best Doctor of Optometry in the East Bay.

Students on the UC Berkeley campus that have had the chance to interact with Robert B. DiMartino through classes such as optometry 246: Disease and Treatment of Anterior Segment Ocular Disease, Vision Science 24, Section 2: Freshman Seminar, and Optometry 441A-C. Specialty Clinics, those who reside in the East Bay Area, say his passion for knowledge, service, leadership, and friendship exude throughout the classroom.
